  I know this sounds silly, but I was a bit suprised when Tirney talked about eating Mola mola (gaint ocean sunfish)in Japan. Not that it makes any measureable difference in their population, but as a biologist and career ecologist I think that most of us realize that eating meat is one of the causes of the the present conditions that concern us, i.e., overfishing, reef decline, deforestation, water/air pollution and the list goes on. If TED is be the intellectual beacon and spear point to revolutionary change (natural and progressive change), I feel that we need to continue to target the cardinal human values and delve into deeper understanding of human conduct and how it impacts everything.
