Ask Evgeny Morozov anything!

Posted by: Matthew Trost

Evgeny Morozov is a contrarian of the online revolution, reminding us all that while the Internet has done a tremendous amount of good — liberating ideas, facts and people — it is just as useful at promoting oppression. His insightful TEDTalk details examples of how regimes are learning to use the Internet for furthering propaganda and simultaneously silencing dissent.

Also, don’t miss his always-thought-provoking blog, Net.Effect.

Morozov is “known for debunking — with facts, figures and sound research — myths and media-bandwagon assumptions” — and over the weekend you have the chance to ask him anything.

Submit your questions to this Reddit thread and we’ll ask him the top 10 as of Tuesday, September 29th at noon Pacific time.

Evgeny. I love term ‘Slacktovist’ that you coined. When can I buy the t-shirt?

I’d love the irony of wearing to try and make a difference.

Is there an instance in history that a government blamed the failure of a policy on the fact that it was someone else’s idea, i.e. “It’s not my fault, SmootheGuyOnline thought this up!”
