Announcing TED@Cannes, coming this Monday
On Monday, TED is throwing a salon in Cannes, France, just before the start of the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival. Co-hosted by Microsoft and Starcom MediaVest Group, the TEDCannes salon will take a deep dive into media and community — and how the past two decades have changed them. The lineup mixes TED favorites and new faces: Hans Rosling, Nicholas Christakis, Stefana Broadbent, Clay Shirky, and Stefan Sagmeister join Wired contributing editor Gary Wolf, Foursquare cofounder Naveen Selvadurai, and musician Bora Yoon.
We’ll be blogging and tweeting from the event at @TEDNews, along with the @MSAdvertising team from Microsoft. Follow #TEDCannes for news and updates. The event is sold out. While there’s no live webstream from this event, we’ll be pulling as many TEDTalks as we can — look for them in upcoming weeks!

Great, TED in France!
I must say that I don’t really understand the partnership between TED and those commercial companies. It feels to me like Mediavest and Microsoft have ordered a pre-formated conference to TED and I don’t really see here the original TED spirit despite the quality of the speakers. Well, I don’t know what to think about this, I hope TED will keep its independence…
