Andy put forward many challenges in his blog, I pick out one which is a special challenge to the "mind set" of a European Capital of Culture - my thought tradition so to speak:; Andy says: "social entrepreneurs are the new artists". I agree, but where does this thesis lead to? Are old artists no social revolutioneers any longer? Beuys, Warhol, Bruce Naumann or Picasso and Chillida? Are there artists today not being social entrepreneurs? Yes, obviously - but what is the consequence? Shall they be supported by tax advantages any longer? Shall we celebrated them in Art Magazine or in the "Modern Churches of the enlightened intellect", the Museums of Modern Art?
Andy speaks of "new artists". My thesis: society today would not recognize them as artist nor as entrepreneurs. today societys´ mind set would tolerate them as idealists not grown up to do real business. Making such social entrepeneurs sexy means nothing else than the attempt to change society´s perception of business and art.

And this is indeed where a culture capital has gained some experience: one is about enlarging the perception of art: what is an artist doing today...? asf... it is a task of 10 years and more! And you best buy a newspaper or magazine to do this. Keep on going Andy!
