I sometimes find it curious (and a little insulting) when people dismiss hip-hop as a monolith. Do they simply dislike rhythm, spoken lyrics and words that rhyme?

Rock & roll, by comparison, is understood to have many sub-categories and aesthetics (folk-rock is not death-metal). I'm sure there's something within the breadth of hip-hop that these folks can appreciate. http://tinyurl.com/gw1comMA http://tinyurl.com/okp-legendary
