John Hunter puts all the problems of the world on a 4′x5′ plywood board — and lets his 4th-graders solve them. At TED2011, he explains how his World Peace Game engages schoolkids, and why the complex lessons it teaches — spontaneous, and always surprising — go further than classroom lectures can. (Recorded at TED2011, March 2011, in Long Beach, CA. Duration: 20:28)

I think this overcomplicated world peace. It’s really just about democracy. Less dictators = more world peace. Just ask the people of the middle east. Here’s my recipe for world peace…

It’s so great to get young people involved in some of the more “daunting” problems facing the world. I think that because “we” have been thinking about the problems for so long, it’s harder for “us” to find a solution that to a young person, would seem so simple.
With Love and Gratitude,
