How I became 100 artists: Shea Hembrey on TED.com

Posted by: Emily McManus

How do you stage an international art show with work from 100 different artists? If you’re Shea Hembrey, you invent all of the artists and artwork yourself — from large-scale outdoor installations to tiny paintings drawn with a single-haired brush. Watch this funny, mind-bending talk to see the explosion of creativity and diversity of skills a single artist is capable of. (Recorded at TED2011, March 2011, in Long Beach, CA. Duration: 17:51)

    Yun, Technology, Entertainment, Design.
I enjoyed this very much. Seems very prolific for 2 years of work.

Interesting but not terribly original. A more engaging a transportive project is Mariana Tres’ Society for Nebulous Knowledge (www.societyfornebulousknowledge.com). Mr. Hembrey met her and her work at an artist residency prior to coming up with his brilliant idea.

Amazing work!! loved the ideas..i often think i can create different art works by imagining being some one else.

This is very clever, I’d be interested in if you had written this all down, so I could read it and look at the art.

I don’t get it. While other TED speakers are working to solve big problems in the world, he spent two years of his life doing… this? For what? To get some cheap laughs at TED?
