Andrew Benjamin’s self possessed diatribe has at least one internal inconsistency. Paragraphs to the contrary he claims to be withholding judgment. If he were withholding judgment his tone would have been something like, “visceral reaction urges an attack on everything about this book before its reading, but I withhold judgment…” Since this is not the case, Andrew has dug himself a sad pit to defend from. He is destined to waste his time nit-picking through a book to prove his point. My visceral reaction is that all guidance toward introspective thought will be filtered in his encounter with Susan’s book. It will be his loss.

Thank you Susan, this is much more than a one read book.

I found this presentation exasperating. I will look at the book to see whether my suspicions are confirmed. My main concern is that a different class of people are being created here based on fairly fluid personality characteristics and predilections. Introversion and extroversion are not immutable characteristics, however, either can be a healthy response depending on various challenges. This presentation felt more like a jeremiad from the perspective of someone who was uncomfortable (or felt forced) to engage in situations where extroversion was commonplace. If someone had given a talk about how they felt uncomfortable being alone we would have probably asked deeper questions about why they felt that way, rather than assuming that they were an extrovert trapped in a introvert-centric world.

Little things, from the beginning, didn't track...the bookish (seemingly insular) family background immediately raises questions about whether these predilections are environmental. As far as supporting these claims the opportunity for confirmation bias is high and I can think of a half -dozen correlative causes for the anecdotal evidence that is given.

I'm withholding judgment until I look at the book, but my heuristic hunch is that while it's very appealing to those who fancy themselves introverts and who want to feel assuaged and confirmed in their own predilections, that this is about as scientifically rigorous as Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus.
