We Indian Handicrafts www.indianhandicraft.org is guiding self help groups, women entrepreneurs produce handicrafts which can be easily marketed through various outlets.
Hi Mr. Odundo,

I'm designing pilots for marketplace development in India. Our focus is providing work to build marketplaces rather than secure income for farmers so we use human power, although the two purposes tend to be compatible. One of the products we can produce is sisal fibre using commercially available and portable pedal-powered decorticators, which produce 1kg of fiber per hour. (http://premagnetos.com/services) There are also pedal and hand operated rope-making machines available that are not specifically designed for sisal but might be adapted. I see in the photo above that your decorticator is motor operated. Do you use a motor also for your twinner, and if so, can it be converted to pedal operation? I see in the twine photo a machine with easy access to the pulley. We must always look to innovators such as yourself to discover the best solutions, otherwise we might find that our enterprises fail when they are outperformed.

Cheers,
kevin
