Millennium Development Goals are conceptualized as a united front of all nations of
the world to venture into the new 21st century with renewed vigor and determination to
combat and arrest the spread and deepening of poverty.

This is reminiscent of post second world war marshal development plans for reconstruction of Europe. Thus UN observes: Six years ago, leaders from every country agreed on a vision for the future –a world with less poverty, hunger and disease, greater survival prospects for mothers and their infants ,better educated children, equal opportunities for women ,and healthier environment ;a world in which developed and developing countries worked in partnership for the betterment of all.
The vision to take the shape of eight Millennium Development Goals, which are providing
countries around the world a framework for development and time-bound targets by which
progress can be measured. However, this paper narrows down on the success made since the commencement of the Millennium Development goals (MDGs). (UN, 2006).
