Today, 19 May 2013, there's an article posted with the BBC on the 750,000 Camels walking about the Australian outback with little or no predictors to control their numbers and force them to run about as Alan suggests they should. If EVER there was a place on earth where a large scale experiment could be done it is there. So here's the real question: are we really all that dumb as humans to not see the opportunity to fund this adventure? Camel tastes good I hear.

I believe the difference between Holistic Management and rotational grazing is that Holistic Management is a comprehensive framework for decision making based on the desired outcomes of the farmer, the resources available, the landscape, the biodiversity of the area, climatic conditions, etc. Rotational grazing fits into the Holistic Management framework as a technique. It is perhaps the core technique, but I think practitioners would say that many other factors incorporated into the holistic framework make their systems sing. I think you have identified the element that a reductionist would focus on out of a complex holistic system. "...Forest for the trees..." and all that.

What ever happened to trusting empirical evidence. Do you think Savory used Photoshop? Geez!
