Bret Hartman is an awarding-winning freelance photojournalist based in Los Angeles, California. After receiving a photography degree from the Art Institute of Colorado in 2002 he got his first job as a staff photographer for the Vail Daily. In 2006 he moved on to the Greeley Tribune where he spent the last two and half years until being laid off due to declining newspaper revenues. During his career Bret has covered immigration issues, a tornado in Windsor, Colorado, World Cup Skiing, Winter X Games, and other sports ranging from high school to professional. Bret Hartman is skilled in all aspects of photography specializing in Sports, Editorial, Portraits, Photo Essays, and more. Bret Hartman's work has been published in the Rocky Mountain News, The Denver Post, The Greeley Tribune, New York Daily News, The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Sports Illustrated and USA Today. He has also done freelance work for Reuters and the Associated Press. His work has won numerous regional and national awards including placing in the top ten for the past 2 years in the National Press Photographers Region 9 Photographer of the Year.
