NYC: TED musicians in concert

Posted by:

It’s a great month for TED music in New York. It seems all our favorites will be coming through… Starting this Saturday June 10 with multi-faceted singer-songwriter Stew (TED2006), who’ll perform at Joe’s Pub. We’re hoping for a preview of his new musical, Passing Strange, which premieres next season at the Berkeley Rep and NY’s Public Theater.

On June 23, jazz legend Herbie Hancock (TED2000, 02, 04) headlines the JVC Jazz Festival, playing a show called “Herbie Hancock and Friends” at Carnegie Hall. Also June 23, charismatic fiddler Natalie MacMaster (TED2003) plays a free outdoor show in Prospect Park as part of Celebrate Brooklyn.

On June 24, extraordinary improviser Vishal Vaid (TED2006) plays two back-to-back shows at Joe’s Pub. The first focuses on traditional interpretations of the Indian ghazal, and the second offers a more contemporary spin. Finally, on June 27 & 28, utterly endearing singer-songwriter Jill Sobule (TED2002-06) returns.
