AI is changing how we teach and learn. Educators should shape what comes next

Posted by:

AI is reshaping how educators teach and how students learn. But for AI to make a positive impact, educators’ voices should be at the center of that change. That’s why TED and Google have teamed up on a global search for ideas from educators about the role of AI in teaching and learning.

Five educators with the most compelling ideas will be selected to develop and deliver their talks at TED2027, TED’s flagship conference, taking place March 1–4, 2027, in San Diego. These talks will be accompanied by an interview-style Q&A with Sal Khan, TED’s Vision Steward and founder of Khan Academy.

Who can participate

This idea search is open to educators at the primary, secondary and higher-education levels who are actively using AI in the classroom, lecture hall or curriculum design. It invites those with firsthand experience designing and refining approaches that are making a difference for students and colleagues, and who think deeply about AI’s place in education, to put their ideas forward.

It starts with the Idea Workshop

The entry point is the Idea Workshop, a free, one-hour professional development experience available starting October 5, 2026, which is World Teachers’ Day. Because the workshop is asynchronous, educators can complete it on their own schedule. It walks through three lessons: what makes an idea worth spreading, how to draw on your own experience to surface a distinctive idea and how to craft a clear through line for a potential talk.

Educators who complete the Idea Workshop receive free resources to support idea development and AI literacy, including TED’s Official Public Speaking Course, a TED-moderated online community of practice and materials from Google such as the AI Educator Series. They can also submit an idea for a chance to speak at TED2027.

How to get involved

  1. Register for the Idea Workshop and submit your idea to TED by November 15, 2026, at 11:59pm ET.
  2. Share this post with an educator whose idea about AI in education deserves to be heard.

Every educator has an idea worth sharing. If you’re using AI in your teaching, the Idea Workshop is where yours can begin.
