New on Japanese TV: “Super Presentation,” featuring TED

Posted by:

A collaboration between TED and Japanese public broadcaster NHK is bringing TEDTalks to TV for the first time in Japan — for Super Presentation! It’s a series that harnesses TED speakers’ persuasive ideas to teach English, empower a new generation of independent thinkers, and build hope one year after the Japanese tsunami.

Friday night at 11pm on NHK Education, watch a one-hour special to introduce the series, hosted by MIT Media Lab director Joi Ito and featuring an interview with TED Curator Chris Anderson. The regular series of half-hour shows begins Monday night, April 2, at 11pm, and runs every Monday night through May. (Schedule below.)

Each episide of “Super Presentation” will feature one or two great TEDTalks, introduced through brief studio segments that introduce the speakers, give background information on their subjects, and explain the language. Each talk will be shown with Japanese subtitles.
