The world as we know it is changing rapidly. Political and economic boundaries are shifting, sometimes to the point of erasure. Power structures are being realigned and, in some cases, dismantled. Disciplines of thought that used to seem divergent now appear to overlap. Our most basic assumptions are being called into question.
And thus, TEDGlobal 2013 will invite us all to “Think Again.”
TEDGlobal 2013 will bring together thinkers who see fascinating possibilities in the ambiguity — 70+ speakers who illuminate old problems in a new light, who dare to ask different questions and who imagine a future that never seemed possible before.
This year’s TEDGlobal will take place in Edinburgh, Scotland, from June 10 to 14, 2013. Apply now to attend TEDGlobal 2013 >>
If you’re not able to join us in Edinburgh, do not be discouraged. You can still get the TEDGlobal 2013 experience at your home, school or office by registering for a TED Live membership, which will also give you access to both TED2013 and TEDGlobal 2013. Apply for TED Live now >>
What should you expect at TEDGlobal 2013? At TEDGlobal 2012, Margaret Heffernan encouraged us to look at conflict as a way of deeper thinking. At TEDGlobal 2011, Alain de Botton asked what aspects of religion atheists should adopt. At TEDGlobal 2010, Sugata Mitra showed how children can direct their own education online. And at TEDGlobal 2009, Dan Pink solved the puzzle of motivation.
While Edinburgh has been home to the annual conference for the last few years, in 2014 we will take TEDGlobal on the road, travelling to an emerging part of the world. We are considering various possible locations, and an announcement will be made in the coming months. Stay tuned.
